Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Developments: Discovering Opportunities and Challenges

Widespread environmental damages to waterways and properties due to hazardous substances continue to bring health risks and negative effects on the U.S. economy. To alleviate the problem, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established national rules and strengthened existing controls of disposal and discharge, particularly those contaminants that can pollute waterways, groundwater, drinking water, and the air, such as coal ash and trichloroethylene.
Any violation could result in toxic tort litigation, which is complex and can take years to resolve. To avoid pitfalls, municipal and industrial entities should monitor the EPA’s enforcement efforts to structure an effective compliance strategy aligned with their public services and businesses.
Listen as experienced environmental lawyers Catherine W. Anglin, Esq. (Paine | Tarwater | Bickers, LLP) and David R. Gillay (Barnes & Thornburg, LLP) provide a comprehensive discussion of the recent developments in toxic torts and environmental law. The speakers will dig deeper into its implications among regulators and other concerned organizations. They will also offer effective compliance strategies in this high-stakes area of law.
