Explore contemporary issues connected to critical narratives of public safety approaches

Professor Woods examines contemporary issues connected to critical narratives of public safety approaches. He explores disproportionate expectations of justice through the examination of high-profile historical events, which affect perceptions of law enforcement among diverse community members. Through increased awareness of relevant theory, statute, case law, and by emphasizing essential sources of constitutional authority, practitioners will better identify, articulate and respond to the challenges in their jurisdictions and rights and remedies of the people they serve. Attorneys will benefit from increased understanding of problems and legal solutions in response to critical narratives of the legacy of policing in the United States. The projected outcomes offer an effort to resolve conflict with respectful application of sustainable solutions. The overall value aspires to preserve civil rights, promote dignity, increase trust, and improve quality of life.
