Steve grew up preparing tax returns in his father’s law office in Sac City, Iowa. After receiving a BBA degree in accounting with highest distinction from the University of Iowa, Steve did stints with a public accounting firm and corporate accounting departments. Steve then graduated from the University of Iowa Law School, cum laude, and decided to learn from the inside. For five years, Steve was a senior trial attorney with District Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices. Since then, he has focused his private law practice on innovative resolution of tax disputes for taxpayers. He has dozens of reported United States Tax Court decisions and has resolved thousands of Tax Court cases. He also practices regularly in the United States District Courts, United States Courts of Appeals and the California Superior Court.
