Associate General Counsel at Brooklyn Defender Services
Catherine M. Gonzalez is Associate General Counsel at Brooklyn Defender Services. She previously served as Supervising Attorney and Policy Counsel at Brooklyn Defender Services (BDS). As a member of the Padilla Unit in the Criminal Defense at BDS, she advised clients and attorneys about the immigration consequences of criminal and family court cases and represented non-citizens fighting to remain in the United States. Catherine also helped develop and guide city, state, and federal legislative and policy reforms across BDS practice areas related to immigration issues. Catherine began her work with BDS as a Staff Attorney in the Criminal Defense Practice representing indigent clients against criminal charges. Catherine received her Juris Doctor degree from Pace University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University.
