Uncover the systemic causes of lawyer burnout and discover actionable strategies to mitigate occupational stress, safeguard your mental well-being, and thrive in your practice.

In today’s legal profession, “stressed out” has become an all-too-common refrain—but when does everyday pressure cross the line into burnout or impairment? This timely program takes a candid look at the realities of stress, anxiety, and mental health challenges within the legal community, where recent studies show a significant rise in substance use and psychological distress. With as many as one in three attorneys likely to require support during their careers, understanding the warning signs is no longer optional—it is essential.
Led by an experienced speaker, this session explores the early indicators of impairment, the unique cultural and professional pressures facing lawyers and judges, and practical strategies for prevention and resilience. Participants will also gain insight into available support through Lawyers Assistance Programs, the ethical obligations surrounding impairment, and the critical connection between mental health, professional responsibility, and disciplinary risk. This is a vital conversation about sustaining both personal wellbeing and professional integrity in a high-risk profession.
